The terrace of the museum, a place of particular importance to its being opened to the public (free access) and the osmotic relationship it has with the city and the neighborhood becomes a kind of gym where artists can compete with walls, surfaces and unused spaces. The protagonists of the first appointment and Sten and Lex Bros are among the most active Italian street artist and internationally acclaimed, that will carry two interventions specifically designed for MACRO.
Working in Rome since 2001, Sten and Lex have worked on a large external walls of the museum, using a technique devised by them, the "stencil posters." After pasting, allowed to dry and cut an array of paper stencil on the wall, the artists have painted black in the blanks, so as to draw a geometric pattern in stripes and diamonds. From this point the gradual unveiling of the work is left to external agents: will the weather and passing gradually to remove the stencil and allow the underlying design of emergence. The street artist Milan Bros spoke of an unconventional, never used before: the fountain on the terrace overlooking the auditorium of the museum. On this surface, divided by a constant flow of water, the artist has created a complex collage of colored translucent films depicting large-scale image of a hurricane taken from the satellite, called "Andrea". The vibrant colors of what at first glance look like an abstract drawing, and then prove to be an icon of power and destruction, will interact with light passing through the glass, creating a dialogue between the interior space of the museum and the terrace.Born in the eighties in the United States as an evolution of the early episodes of urban graffiti, Street Art is gained in a variety of forms, feeding on an intense relationship with the road, the size of the underground metro and the environment. The latest developments are the artists - now fully aware of their role - the center of attention of museums, recognized for the innovative power that their language has introduced viral and illegal practices in traditional art.The intervention Bros is done in collaboration with the Contemporary Art Gallery Edieuropa HERE and Studio Fabio Mauri, Association for Art Experiment of the World.
