Saturday, May 12, 2012
The Coppedè, an agglomeration "fairytale", located between via Tagliamento and Corso Trieste, derives its name from its designer Gino Coppedè.
Florentine architect, was renowned for its decorative exuberance, and the vivacity of his extravagant creations, which are positioned between the period of severe Umberto and the Fascistarchitecture of fascism. This originality won him the baptism of a style (the styleCoppedè, precisely).
The palace of the spider, the villas of the fairies, the Fountain of frogs: architecturefrom the names and suggestive forms that enrich the urban fabric, making theCoppedè a small jewel of Italian Liberty, and the most original architectural experimentbegun in Rome in early decades of last century.
